Healthy Mouth Healthy Life Podcast

My name is Carrie Ibbetson and I am a Registered Dental Hygienist with nearly 20 years experience in the dental world. I have worked as a dental assistant, front office coordinator, and as a dental hygienist. I like to think that because I have immersed myself in all facets of the dental office that I have a pretty rounded idea of what dentistry and dental offices are all about. One unique thing about my career is that I have spent many years working as a temporary fill in for offices (think substitute teacher). This has given me a really broad idea of what other offices are like, and has helped fuel my passion for amazing products and helping people connect the dots about their own health. For quite a few years I had a gypsy style mentality of living, traveling and exploring. Dentistry always allowed me to both pick up and move, or it allowed me to find work if I decided I was ready for a change. I would not change my experiences, but I can say that it has helped me to understand why many people find frustration or distrust in the dental offices they visit.

In this session of The Healthy mouth Healthy Life Podcast, I'm happy to welcome Robert Takhtalia, President of Vita-Myr to the show!

Robert's company specializes in a line of oral health products that use the natural ingredients, Myrrh and Clove oils to maintain healthy teeth and gums.

These ingredients have been used traditionally throughout the ages to clean and disinfect not only the mouth, but many other areas as well.  Myrrh is recorded in one of the oldest Egyptian medical texts on record, and has been used for over 700 remedies.

Robert was a successful business owner, who, like many people avoided the dentist for years. He noticed that when life was stressful, he would develop gum infections and bleeding gums.

He'd use some products at home, and the issue would seem to clear up, and he would go about his life.  Although, what was happening is that the infection was continuing to destroy the bone around the tooth and causing his mouth to have huge issues.

Finally, he started seeing the dentist and periodontist, only to spend thousands of dollars, and still be told that he was going to lose his teeth.

Listen to Robert's story, and learn how he was able to save his teeth, and how he avoided dentures and implants.

When done in the right environment, dental hygiene has the ability to help dramatically change people's overall health and wellness.

Today we talk with Rose Palmer, a Dental Hygienist of 45 years and a dear friend of mine who (after all these years) still loves the opportunity to help not only the patients she sees, but the community as well.

She explains what her version of being a "whole-istic" (holistic) dental hygienist is, and how she also shares NeriumAD age defying treatment with her patients too.

Her passion to help people change their lives is infectious, and she explains how she is not only able to help people with their overall health, but with NeriumAD she is also able to help people make significant changes to their appearance and financial situation as well.

Have you stopped to take a look at the health of society lately?  I struggle to see how many lives are affected by disease.  Given the current statistics of heart disease, diabetes, cancer, Alzheimer's and arthritis alone, it's hard to think that nearly every person isn't directly affected by someone who struggles with controlling these diseases.

If you look at current trends, each and every one of us are bound to either personally suffer with some sort of chronic disease, or at least know someone first hand who suffers.  What if you didn't have to watch your loved ones slip into not knowing who they were or where they are?  Alzheimer's disease is increasing in both severity and numbers

But what if there were a common link to each and every one of these diseases, and by first treating this common link you could dramatically reduce the likelihood that you too will suffer with these debilitating and life shortening diseases....

Dr. Chris Kammer has been a dentist for over 20 years, and in that time he has been passionate about making a difference in people's lives.  What started out as a passion for cosmetic dentistry, led him down a path that led to a huge discovery. The health of our body is directly correlated to the bacteria in our mouths!

When the bacteria (plaque) in our mouths build up they change in nature and become harmful to the body, resulting in gum disease.  Gum disease (which often occurs without symptoms), is now present to some degree in approximately 80% of adult Americans according to the U.S. Surgeon General.

The good news is, not everyone has to have this negative bacteria, but the bad news is that most of us do (thank you Surgeon General for the dismal 80% statistic).

This week Healthy Mouth Healthy Life Radio tackles two important topics

  • What type of toothpaste is good for a toddler
  • What fluoride does, and where it has its place in oral health…if at all

Be sure to tune in every week, and leave a comment below letting us know what you thought of the show, and let us know your thoughts.

Today I start a new radio show, Healthy Mouth, Healthy Life Radio!

I’ve been told for years, “the way you put passion to oral health, you should write a book”…..no I really shouldn’t, my writing style is far too long winded, and I hate when my editor (and bff) chops my beautifully passionate 700 word blog post into 300 words..dammit, I have stuff to say!

But the truth of the matter is, many of those words fall on deaf ears; not because what I say is not interesting, we are just simply fed too much information to read and read and read.
